Take a glance to the history of Tbilisi city from early centuries to nowadays and enjoy walking  in the narrow streets of the ancient royal town of Mtskheta.


Day 1 - Tbilisi - Arrival Day
Upon arrival in Tbilisi you will be met by our  representative and will be taken to  your hotel room. After a short break, we will start our tour from Tbilisi.

  • The 4th century Narikala Fortress- An ancient citadel overlooking the capital and the Mtkvari river.
  • Metekhi Church (13th c.)  The historical  heart of the city, Metekhi is a must-see for any visitor of Tbilisi. King Vakhtang Gorgasali erected the first church here in the 5 th century.
  • Sioni - the cathedral of the 6th-7th cc; It is situated on historic Sioni street, in downtown Tbilisi.
  • Sulphur baths - a favorite place of Tbilisi citizens and foreign guests.
  • Sameba Cathedral - The main cathedral of the Georgian Orthodox Church.
  • National  Museum - With numerous objects, the Georgian National Museum presents the wide scope of Georgian culture from all around the country.

In Mtskheta we will visit:

  • Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (XI c.)- Svetitskhoveli Cathedral has been the burial site for Georgian kings and is built on the site where it is said that the robe of Jesus is buried.
  • Jvari Monastery (VI c) is a symbol of Mtskheta; Jvari is one of the masterpieces of Georgian architecture and is now listed as one of the World Heritage sites by UNESCO. It was built on a hill near Mtskheta overlooking the estuary of two rivers, the Mtkvari and Aragvi.
  • Shiomghvime Monastery Complex. It is one of the most prominent religious and cultural centers in feudal Georgia  located in the Mtskheta district, on the left bank of the Mtkvari. According to historical sources, the monastery was founded by Shio  an apostle of Assyrian Father John of Zedazeni in the 6th century.
  • Samtavro (Place of the Ruler). Samtavro is located to the north up the main road, within easy walking distance from the Svetitskhoveli complex. According to the legend, St.Nino actually lived on this site and prayed within the smaller of its two extant churches. This small church dates from the 4th century. The larger church on this site was built in the 11th century and contains the graves of Mirian, the Georgianking who adopted Christianity,and his wife.
  • Bebris Tsikhe (The Elder's Fortress). Located further up the main road from Samtavro, the ruins of Bebris Tsikhe are fun, if a bit dangerous, to climb on for views overlooking Mtskheta and the valley formed around the Mtkvari and Aragvi rivers.

  • Ananuri Fortress -The fairy-tale Ananuri ensemble is beautifully situated on the Georgian Military Highway, on the shore of the azure blue Zhinvali reservoir.

Return to Tbilisi - End of the Tour

Our guide will be at your service till 8 p.m.

This is the end of the tour. Regarding your flight departure time, we will arrange your transfer to airport for your international flight back home.
